Neumann College (9-4, 2-2 ECAC West) scored six goals over the first 7:36, en route to a 9-2 victory against tournament host Saint Michael's College. Over a span of 1:57, the Knights scored four goals; prompting St. Michael's to pull their starting goaltender. However, that did not stop the Neumann attack, as the Knights tacked on two more quick goals in just over three minutes. In a second effort to shut the Knights down, St. Michael's once again pulled their goalie. Now on their third keeper of the game, the Purple Knights were able to slow down the Knights but were not able to stop them. Freshman Donavon Hall scored his third goal of the contest 3:37 into the final frame.
St. Michael's managed to avoid a shutout on their home ice, scoring their first goal at 15:50 into the second period, on a power play advantage. They added one more before the nights was done scoring at even strength, 7:06 into the third.
Aside from Hall's hat-trick, Neumann also got production from freshman Mike Hedden and sophomore Neil Trimm, who each notched a pair of goals. Starting net minder Mike Collichio stopped 29 shots between the pipes for the Knights. For their efforts the Knights will headline tomorrow's action, taking on ECAC West rival Utica College at 4:00 p.m. for the tournament title.
