ASTON, Pa. - The Knights (4-11-1) fell short with a final score of 3-0 in a hard fought game against PAC competitor Eastern University (12-5-1) this afternoon in Aston, Pennsylvania.
Neumann College honored seniors Jess Kempa (Baltimore, Md.) and Nicole Christy (Williamstown, NJ) before the commencement of the afternoon's event. Kempa and Christy were recognized this afternoon for four years of continuous hard work, devotion and commitment to the Neumann Women's Soccer program.
The Knights came out strong in the first half of the game, but it was Eagles' Krista Wiggins who put the first goal on the board and gave her the team the lead at 16:36. The remainder of the first half was a tough battle for both teams. The Knights and the Eagles each added scoring opportunities on both ends of the field, but strong defense at each side kept the score at 1-0 Eagles heading into the second half of the game.
After the break, Neumann came out with intense play towards the Eagles; however, an Eagles' penalty shot taken by Kara Neef, with 6:15 left on the clock, allowed them to advance on Neumann with a two-goal lead. The Knights' defending end of the field was solid throughout the entire game, but the final score resulted in 3-0 Eastern, with Eastern's Ashley Hackman scoring the third and final goal of the game at 89:30.
Neumann freshman goalkeeper Caitlin Agnew (Philadelphia, Pa.) made a total of 10 saves on the day.
The PAC Tournament first-round will take place next Saturday, October 28th, with the first game beginning at 1:00 p.m.
