After a long drive into SUNY Geneseo territory Friday the Neumann Knights defeated their hosts and the 10th ranked division-III team in the Nation, in the first of a two-game series in Geneseo, New York.
Neumann scored three consecutive power-play goals in the first period to take a 3-0 lead on the Geneseo Knights. Neumann's Kyle Casey scored his fifth and six goals of the season while Captain Neil Trimm scored the game winner at 16:57. Matt Ward and Mike Gooch were credited with the assist.
Matt Ward and Mike Hedden each scored their fourth goal of the season in the second stanza taking a 5-1 lead while Neumann's Casey opened and closed the scoring on the night netting the final goal at 17:11 to end the game 6-2.
Neumann Knight Mike Collichio (2-0-0), who was awarded the third star of the night, recorded 31 saves in the win handing Geneseo their first loss of the season. Teammates Matt Ward and Neil Trimm were awarded the first and second stars of the game.
Neumann will return to face the Geneseo Knight once more tomorrow, October 28th in the second game of the weekend series. The puck will drop at 7:00 p.m.
