Chester, Pa. - In their last PAC match up of the season, the Neumann Knights took on the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy College at Widener University after the stormy weather from the night before reeked havoc on the Knights' home field.
Prior to the afternoon's event, Athletic Director Chuck Sack, along with Knights' Head Coach Kevin Sloan and Assistant Chris Fehrle honored the Knights three outstanding seniors; Joe Fargnoli, Patrick Benjamin and Josh Williams for their hard work, dedication and sportsmanship in the program.
The Knights played hard but despite their strong defensive and offensive force they were unable to secure a win in their final PAC contest of the 2006 season. Gwynedd took a 1-0 first half lead after the Knights' defense blocked two previous shots on net, causing an ensuing scramble, which blocked the view of Knights' freshman Cory Grove allowing GMC's Andrew Severns to roll around Neumann's Joshua Steer and place the ball right pass Grove for the 1-0 lead. Griffin's Ed Pratt was credited with the assist.
The Knights turned away a number of shots in the second period holding the Griffins to a 1-goal margin but could not hit their mark.
The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, November 1st at home. The are scheduled to host Ursinus College at 3:30 p.m.
