The Neumann men's basketball team's five-game winning streak came to a halt Tuesday night with a 79-73 defeat at the hands of the Eastern University Eagles in overtime.

Eastern came out on a 10-0 run in the first few minutes of play and extended their lead to 15 with 13:09 left in the first half. Neumann chipped away at the Eagles lead coming within one with just over a minute left to play in the first half. However, Eastern managed to hold on to take a 3-point lead at the half, 38-35.

The Knights took their first lead of the night in the first two minutes of the second half and extended their lead to eight with 8:36 remaining. Eastern came back to tie the game with 1:40 left and the two teams battled point for point with Eastern tying the game once again at 67-67, with 29 seconds on the clock, forcing the game into overtime.

The Eagles got up early and hit ten of twelve free throws in overtime to earn the final six point win.

DJ Fritz and Derahn Patrick both scored 18 to lead the Knights. They were joined in double figures by Ronnie Fields with 13.

The Knights (5-2, 3-1) will return to action on Friday night when they take on Richard Stockton College at the Messiah Tournament at 6:00 p.m.
