Box Score

ASTON, PA - The Neumann Knights (8-14, 7-8 PAC) and Immaculata Mighty Macs (5-18, 4-12) harnessed their love of basketball into a great cause this afternoon at the Neumann College Bruder Gymnasium, joining in Coaches vs. Cancer, a collaborative fund-raising effort between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches to win the fight against cancer.

In the PAC basketball match up, the Neumann Knights not only raised cancer awareness, but also raised the points score in the first half taking a 13 point lead over the Mighty Macs on Saturday afternoon.  Though Immaculata put the first points on the board when Julius Lopez scored three for the Mighty Macs, Neumann answered right back with back to back threes by Ronnie Fields. The two teams battled back and forth until a third Ronnie Fields three was followed by one from Eric Lawton giving the Knights a 10 point lead. Immaculata managed to cut the lead to five but Neumann would not let up. The Knights went on a nine point run and capped the first half with two free throws, ending the half up 44-31.

Immaculata's Kyle Finklea gave Neumann a run for their money in the second half, scoring 17 of his total 20 points in the game.  But the Knights didn't flinch; they continued their aggressive play, led by leading point scorers Andre Wright and Ronnie Fields.  Towards the end of the game, the Knights held a comfortable lead and managed to shut down the Mighty Macs' offense by keeping possession of the ball.  The Mighty Macs played a physical game, but the Knights counteracted that with ball control and a fast-paced offense.  The Knights were able to take the hard earned win over Immaculata, 71-65.

The Knights improve their record to 9-14 overall and 8-8 in the PAC.  Immaculata's record falls to 5-19 overall and 4-13 in the PAC.  The Knights will return to action on Monday, February 13, when they will host PAC rival Gwynedd-Mercy College at 8:00p.m. at Bruder Gymnasium in Aston, PA.
