Aston, PA- The Neumann Knights (13-6-0, 5-4 ECAC West) fell to ECAC West rival Elmira College (10-7-2, 3-5-1 ECAC West) 5-3, in first game of a home and home weekend series.

Neumann could not stop the Soaring Eagles power play as the Knights spotted Elmira College a  3- 0 lead in the first 15 minutes of play, and could not recover in ECAC West hockey league action Friday night. Elmira's Nicolas Dumoulin, Derrick Ryan, and Michael Richard scored the 3 power play goals for the Soaring Eagles in the first period. Within the first six minutes of the second period, Neumann fought back, scoring two goals less than five minutes apart. Elmira had to respond. At 9:39 the Soaring Eagles called on Michael Richard, who scored his second goal of the night, making it a 4-2 game.

In the third period, Richard struck again, finishing off the night with a hat trick at 5:16. However, Neumann would not go down without a fight. Josh Gaynor scored his second goal of the evening at the 12:52 mark to close the gap 5-3. Despite his efforts, the Knights slipped to 13-6-0 and 5-4 in the ECAC West.

Neumann will face the Soaring Eagles again tomorrow night at the Ice Works Quad Arena in Aston, PA. The puck drops at 7:00 P.M.
