Box Score
In the Neumann College women's lacrosse 2006 season home opener the Knights (1-2, 1-1 PAC) hosted the Eagles of Eastern University (1-1, 1-0 PAC). It was a close match-up between the two PAC teams and despite the fight of the Knights, Eastern University walked away with a 15-12 win over the afternoon host.
The Knights came out strong, scoring two quick goals by the hand of senior Kolleen Kitzinger (Springfield, PA/Archbishop Predergrast), who had a total of five goals. Helping her out in the offensive end was Samantha Lafferty (Glenolden, PA/Interboro) with 3, and Brandy McCreary (West Chester, PA/West Chester Henderson), Courtney Murphy (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower), Gabby D'Ambrosio (Mount Laurel, NJ/Holy Cross) and Courtney Bundalian (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway) who each added one point to the Neumann score.
The Neumann College offense was able to frustrate Eastern defense, taking a 5-4 lead at the half. On the flip side the defensive efforts of sophomore Caitlin O'Shea, who had 7 crucial saves throughout the game, proved to be a crucial part of the Neumann play calling. However, the Knights lead seemed to go down with the sun and the plummeting temperatures in the second half, allowing the Eagles to score 11 goals in route to the 15-12 win.
Scoring for Eastern was Kate Hoy with 4, Jessie Basch with 3, Nicole Dorflinger and Cnristine each with 2, and Kiana Diffenderfer, Amy Norman, and Erin Reimel, and Linnea Davis each with one point.
The Neumann Knights will continue their home stand on Saturday when they host Kean University at 1:00 p.m.
