Box Score

Neumann's Steve Maloney started things off with a singled followed by Josh MacDonald (Newark, DE/Hodgson Vo-Tech) and James Jordan (Upper Darby, PA/Monsignor Bonner) who each followed suit with a base hit of their own to scoring Maloney. Jordan stole second providing a distraction which allowed MacDonald to steal home putting the Knights up 2-0.

 

Neumann went up 3-0 in the bottom of the second when an RBI single by Christopher Dascher (Horsham, Pa/M.C.C.C.) extended the Knights lead. Haverford managed to get on the board when a sacrifice fly by Render brought home Laganosky closing the gap on the Knights.

 

The Fords scored one more in the sixth before tying the Knights at 4 all in the top of the seventh. Neumann though remained tough. Senior Matt Backert (North East, MD/Rising Sun) hit the game winning single in the lead off position. That hit was followed by two stellar back to back bunts by Maloney and MacDonald loaded the bases for Jordan who hit a 3 RBI triple giving the the Knights all they would need to extend their winning streak to three.

 

Starter Phil Kelly (Conshohocken, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) faced 22 batters allowed two runs on three hits, and struck out three in five innings. Jeremy Micun (Aston, PA/Sun Valley H.S.) allowed one run on three hits, walked one and stuck out three in 2 innings. Jason Vilimas (Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Regional) pitched 1.1 innings allowing 2 run and giving up 2 hit while Kevin Ahern (Parkside, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) sealed the win striking out one in the 2 run win.

 

The Knights will return to action on Friday, March 31 when they will host Marywood University at 3:30 p.m.
