Aston, P.A. - Nine different players' notched goals as the Neumann Knights rolled past Wesley College, 21-5, Wednesday afternoon in Aston. The Knights were paced by Kolleen Kitzinger's five goals and three assists.
Samatha Lafferty added seven points while Courtney Murphy and Brandy McCreary added five points for Neumann. The Knights defense caused 32 of Wesley's 34 turnovers, with seven coming from nationally ranked Knight, Courtney Murphy.
The Knights (10-3, 8-1 PAC) raced out of the gates with three goals in the game's first ten minutes from Lafferty, Murphy and Amanda Biagi. Neumann continued to pour it on notching eight more goals in the first half, completely shutting down the Wolverines offense, closing the half up 11-0. The Knights dominated possession, winning 10 of the 11 draws and firing 29 shots.
Neumann refused to let up in the second half, but Wesley's Stacy Johnson did manage to break up the scoring frenzy, tallying the Wolverines first goal of the afternoon 39 seconds into the half. Neumann answered with three consecutive goals by McCreary, Gabby D'Ambrosio and Emily Kazaba as the Knights lead swelled to 14 on the score board.
Kitzinger went on to score a pair of second half goals for Neumann, and Erin O'Donnell, Murphy, Lafferty, Kazaba and McCreary netted the others for the Knights. Wesley did score three goals in the final two minutes of play but it was too little to late. Neumann continued its control of possession winning 13 of 16 draws in the half, and winning 23 in the game.
Caitlin O'Shea made four saves in the game before giving way to Mary Zupan who made four as well.
Neumann will be back in action next week at Cabrini College in a PAC conference match up in Radnor, Pennsylvania.
