Box Score

Reading, PA - The Knights women's lacrosse team kept up their winning streak in a 18-7 victory over the Crusaders of Alvernia College on Saturday, April 1st. This would give the Knights their 5th PAC win of the season going 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the PAC.

The Knights were led by senior midfielders Samantha Lafferty, Brandy McCreary, and Kolleen Kitzinger who combined for 13 of the Knights' 18 goals in the win. In the first half, the Crusaders came out going one-for-one with Neumann scoring the first goal of the game.

It was tied up at 3-3 until the 12:48 minute mark when Neumann scored 5 unanswered goals; 2 from Lafferty, 2 from McCreary, and 1 from Kitzinger. Alvernia's Katie O'Brien scored for the Crusaders, but Neumann's attack did not let down. Knights Michelle Coderre, McCreary, Courtney Murphy, and Lafferty each added one more before half time giving Neumann a comfortable 8 goal lead at 12-4.

Coming into the second half the Knights didn't take any chances knowing that Alvernia is usually a second-half team. They scored 2 quick goals (one from Lafferty off a pass from Murphy and one unassisted from Gabby D'Ambrosio) to put them up 10 points which was enough to keep the clock running.

Lafferty, McCreary, Kitzinger, and Coderre each put in one for Neumann's run of 4 more goals and kept the Crusaders scoreless in the second half until 8:18 when Alvernia's McKenna Shafer put one past goalkeeper Caitlin O'Shea. Chrissy Paris and Shafer each had one more for the Crusaders, but it wasn't enough to keep them in the game. The last six and a half minutes of the game remained scoreless for both teams, but Neumann came out on top with a final score of 18-7.

The Knights will face off for their next PAC game against Rosemont College on Wednesday, April 5th at 4:00pm in Rosemont, PA.
