ASTON- Pa.- The Knights of Neumann College took on the #1 ranked preseason team in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, the Crusaders of Alvernia College on Saturday afternoon at 1:00p.m. The game, played on Bruder Field escaladed immediately with intensity at both ends of the field.
The Crusaders struck first at 24:00 when Becky Macchione put one past Knight's Chelsea Ward to put Alvernia ahead 1-0. Ward's goaltending kept the Knights' spirits strong in the first half; disallowing the Crusaders to gain an edge on Neumann and keeping the score close by one heading into the second half.
The second half started equally as intense as the first, but intensity rose at 18:11, when Alvernia's Jessie Titus scored for the Crusaders with help from teammate Shayna Clark to give their team a two-goal lead on the Knights and make the final score of the game
2-0 Alvernia.
The Knights will return to action at 4p.m.on Monday, September 25th.
