Neumann College captured two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches to earn a 6-3 victory over Arcadia University in an Pennsylvania Athletic Conference women's tennis action on Monday afternoon in Glenside, Pennsylvania.
Neumann improved to 4-6 overall and 4-3 in the PAC. AU fell to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the PAC.
Seniors Sarah Tomlinson (7-62, 6-1) and Ashley Miller (6-0, 6-1) earned singles victories at the #1 and #2 positions respectively. The pair also teamed to take an 8-2 victory over AU's Katie Brammer and Sarah Palmer in the #1 doubles match. Neumann won the #3 doubles match 8-5 with the pair of Shamira Cannon and Melinda Howell, but the #2 team of Courtney Hartel and Kayla Chamberlain lost 8-2. Hartel (6-2, 0-6, 6-0) and Cannon both pulled out victories at #3 and #6, However, freshman Allison Trout suffered a close loss in the #4 singles spot by a score of 6-0, 6-3.
Neumann returns to action Friday, September 29 in a match up at Wilkes University at 3:30 p.m.
