Aston, Pa. - The Neumann College Women's Ice Hockey (6-7-1) team faced off, in a non divisional match-up, against Division I Sacred Heart University (2-14-1) at Ice Works in Aston, PA on Wednesday January 10.  In 65 minutes of play, the two teams skated to a 4-4 tie.

Sacred Heart got on the board first, scoring a power-play goal in the eighth minute of the game.  Neumann tied the game at 18:39, when newcomer Tabatha Schury took control of a rebound shot and passed the puck to Kristen Gauthier, who scored Neumann's first goal of the day.

The second period began in a 1-1 tie, however, the scoring opened up when Gauthier registered her second goal of the game on another assist from Schury.  Neumann then jumped to a two-goal lead on a power-play goal by Carly Fitzsimmons.  Sacred Heart then tied the game on two unanswered power-play goals of their own and took a 4-3 lead on another power play goal by Katelin McLaughlin to end a high scoring second period.

Neumann tied the game 2 minutes into the third period on a short-handed goal by Samantha May from center ice.  The game remained tied through the rest of the third period sending the game into a 5-minute overtime.  However, this was not enough to decide a winner, and the game resulted in a 4-4 tie.

Neumann's women's Ice Hockey team takes the ice next at Williams College in Massachusetts on Tuesday January 16.
