On January 19, Neumann College (13-2-4, 5-1-3) defeated Lebanon Valley (2-16-0, 0-9) 15-0 in an ECAC match at Ice Works Quad Rinks in Aston, Pa.
Neumann College came out to a quick start scoring 2 goals in the first three 3-minutes of play to take control of the period. The first goal was scored on a power play at 17:33 by Mike Hedden and assisted by Mark Van Vliet. Neumann's second goal was scored by Stewart Sjoberg 30 seconds later.
The Flying Dutchmen came out playing physical but it was not enough to stop the Knights attack from scoring three more quick goals by Ryan Heickert, Peter Vaisanen and Stewart Sjoberg.
The 5th goal by Neumann came off a pass from goalie Mike Collichio and Charles Paterson and was scored short handed by Sjoberg. Neumann College out-shot the Flying Dutchmen 16-2 in the first period.
Neumann continued its hot play in the second period scoring four more goals. Goals were scored by Jesse Cole, Mike DeMarchi, and national point's leader Neil Trimm, who scored two goals in the second period.
The third period was a wild one. The physical play picked up significantly and so did Neumann's scoring streak. The Knights scored six more goals in the final 20-minutes of play. Jesse Cole scored two third period goals to end the game with his first hat-trick of the season. Doug Slipacoff found the net at 6:05 marking his first goal of the year and sophomore standout Mike Hedden scored three third-period goals to end the night with a golden sombreo.
