Aston, Pa. - The Neumann College women's soccer team (3-9-1 overall, 2-2-1 PAC) suffered a 6-2 loss to Eastern University (8-2, 5-0 PAC) Monday afternoon at Knights Field.
Eastern went up 4-0 in the first half and added another early in the second half before Neumann's Vicky Segal (Phoenixville, Pa. /Phoenixville) finally got the Knights on the board at 55:57, with a header off a high ball from Casey Geary ( Ocean City, NJ /Ocean City), to cut the deficit to 5-1. Segal's goal, which helped the Knights avoid the shutout, was the first goal scored against Eastern in PAC play and the first of the season for Segal.
Eastern added one more before the game was over but the Knights scored the last shot of the day in the 77th minute. Senior Angela Juliano placed the ball in the upper left corner off a header from Brittany Barley (Lancaster, Pa. /Lancaster Catholic). However, it would not be enough as Neumann fell 6-2 in the end.
Despite the loss Neumann goaltender Caitlin Agnew (Philadelphia, Pa. /Little Flower) did her best to keep the Knights alive after being outshot 16-9. Agnew recorded ten saves on the day.
The Knights will return to action on Wednesday at Cabrini College. The PAC matchup is set for 6:30 p.m.
