St. David's, Pa. - Eastern University scored four second half goals, en route to a 4-0 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference field hockey victory Wednesday afternoon over the Neumann Knights.
Both teams battled in the first half, but neither one could break the game open. "The first half was incredible, stated Head Coach Sarah Madrak. Our team has been working hard to finally come together and they did during the first half. We're going to continue to work and improve until we're able to play an entire 70 minutes of hockey."
Neumann's Chelsea Ward made three saves in the first period, while Eastern's Kelly Garland made one stop in the opening half.
The Eagles scored the first goal of the game 5:55 into the second half and followed with an unassisted goal six minutes later. Eastern would score two more over the following 10-minutes en route to the 4-0 victory.
Ward ended up with eight saves for the Knights in the losing effort.
Eastern outshot Neumann by a 17-3 margin and held an 11-1 advantage in penalty corners.
