The Neumann College women's volleyball team defeated DeSales University (30-24, 30-16, 30-27) in the first game of a tri-match event hosted by Neumann College in the Bruder Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. Despite a tough loss to Eastern University last week, the Knights showed their resilience and overpowered the Bulldogs, improving their record to 21-9, 10-1 PAC for the season.
A number of players showcased their skills, during the sweep. Junior Rachael Sokolovich recorded 14 kills and 18 digs. Freshman Ashley Mathis and junior Julia Tarloski helped the team with 13 and 12 kills, respectively and junior Meghan Wilson joined the list of highlights with 20 digs.
The biggest story of the match came in game three, with Julia Tarloski registering the 1,000th kill of her Neumann College career. The moment came with Neumann leading the game, 6-3. Tarloski hit a power attack which landed to the right side of Bulldog Kylie Fehnel. Tarloski ended the opening match with 1,005 career kills.
Neumann will return to action at 3:00 p.m. when they host Richard Stockton College in the second game of the Knights' tri-match.
