BOX SCORE

Aston, Pa. - The Neumann College men's ice hockey team hosted Adrian College at the Ice Works Quad Arena in Aston, Pa. Saturday night. The Knights fell back early 2-0 but showed great heart and determination coming back to win 3-2.  Mike Hedden scored the first two goals for the Knights and Kyle Casey provided the game winner.  Mike Collichio made 38 saves for the Knights in the victory.

In the first period of play, Adrian got on the board first when Mike Towns made a pass from the right circle to the left one and found Drew Satterley for a one time goal to take the lead 1-0.  Neumann applied pressure but could not find the back of the net.  Adrian doubled their lead when Chris Stansik controlled the puck from the blue line and streaked past the Neumann defense to score and take a 2-0 lead.

Neumann cut the lead to 2-1 late in the second period.  The Knights' persistent attack paid off when Mike Hedden put one in on top of the crease giving Neumann life.  Kyle Casey and Mark Van Vliet were each credited with the assists.

The Knights penalty kill played well stopping all power play attempts in the second period.  Goalie Mike Collichio looked stout in net denying all attempts from the Bulldogs.

The Knights applied early pressure in third period. Mike Hedden had a great look on net but goaltender Brad Fogal robbed him of the tying goal.  It did not take Hedden long to get payback as he made a great individual effort and put the puck top shelf, tying the score at 2-2. Line mates Kyle Casey and Neil Trimm had assists on the goal.

The Knights took advantage of a neutral zone error and Mark Van Vliet found a streaking Kyle Casey who finished untouched, giving the Knights a 3-2 advantage.  Adrian pulled their goalie with less then a minute left but it was not enough as the Knights came back and win 3-2.

Neumann and Adrian will return to action on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Ice Works Quad Rinks in Aston, Pa. in the final game of the weekend series.
