ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann College field hockey team fell to King's College 4-2 at Bruder Field in Aston, Pa. Thursday afternoon. The loss drops the Knights to 6-7 while the Monarchs move to 6-3 overall.
After Debbie Wychock gave King's a 1-0 lead in the first 26 seconds of play Neumann's Amanda Biagi gathered a rebound shot and slid it past the left side of King's Keeper Kari Leach to even the game at 1-1 with just under 2-minutes expired off the clock.
The Monarchs tallied two more in the first half, the first from Candace Russ and the second from Amanda Schwartztrauber, to take a 3-1 lead into intermission. Neumann came out of the halftime break and received an unassisted goal from Kerri Sinclair to close the gap with 21-minutes left to play However, the Monarch's Sarah McGrady ended the game's scoring when she scored connected with Megan Farrell off a corner with 4-minutes left to play.
Neumann was outshot 16-10 in the game, and King's held an 11-6 advantage on penalty corner opportunities. Nicole Deludos got the start in goal for the Knights and made five saves in the game. Chelsea Ward came in relief stopping 3-shots on net. Megan Mazur and Kerry Ronan each made a defensive save in the game as well.
The Knights return to action on Saturday, October 6 when they travel to Dallas, Pa. for a 1:00 p.m. conference match with Misericordia University.
