Women's Tennis Compiles a 5-1 PAC Record After 6-3 Win

St. David's, Pa. - After competing in a 5 hour match on Wednesday the Knights' women's tennis team returned to the courts on Thursday and forged a 6-3 win at Eastern University, marking the Knights' 5th PAC win of the season.

"After last night's marathon match I wasn't sure what to expect from the women today, but they really stepped up," stated Head Coach Christian Gosseaux. It is a true sign of a good team. Their conditioning and mental toughness can really be seen. I am super proud of the women, It was a great win."

After an injury to teammate Michelle Steward forced the Knights to rearrange their lineup, the Knights knew what had to be done to win their third straight PAC match.  

Neumann took a 2-1 lead after the completion of doubles play as Allison Trout (Audubon, NJ /Audubon) and Kayla Chamberlain (Mickelton, NJ /Gloucester Catholic) earned a 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles and Lindsey Ravior (Minotola, NJ /Buena Regional) and Courtney Hartel (Clifton Heights, Pa. /Upper Darby) won 8-6 at No. 3

Neumann faltered at No. 1 and 2 singles after Katie Nell (Ocean City, NJ /Ocean City) suffered a 6-0, 6-0 loss at No. 1 and Michelle Steward (Haddon Township, NJ /Haddon Township) put forth a strong effort at No. 2 but had to default after winning the first point 1-0 due to injury.

Down 3-2 Neumann Knight Allison Trout came to the court and tied the score with a 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles. Lindsey Ravior followed suit with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 4 and Kayla Chamberlin clinched the match for the Knights with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 win at No. 5. Rounding out the days winners was Neumann's Courtney Hartel who shutdown Eastern with at 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6.

Neumann will look for their third win of the season on Friday when the travel to Baltimore, Maryland for a 3:30 p.m. start with College of Notre Dame.
