BOX SCORE

Aston, Pa. -- The Neumann Knights set the tone for the match in the first period by out-skating the Flying Dutchmen early on. Stewart Sjoberg started off the scoring 3:34 into the game with a behind the net pass from Jesse Cole. Sjoberg delivered it over the Flying Dutchmen's Aaron Miller's right shoulder giving the Knights a 1-0 lead. Ryan Heickert was also credited with an assist on the play.

The Knights doubled their lead midway through the first period on a two-on-one break as Kyle Casey passed the puck circle to circle to Michael Hedden who slotted it home 10:41 into the period, giving Neumann a 2-0 advantage.

Lebanon Valley struck 00:38 into the second period with a quick glove side wrister by Anthony Ventura giving the Flying Dutchmen their first goal of the game and cutting the Knights lead to one.

Neumann responded with three unanswered goals.  Hedden started it off when he slipped the puck by Miller at 4:39, with assists from Casey and Neil Trimm.  The second goal came from Casey, who put one high over the goaltender's right side for a 4-1 lead. The final goal of the period came from Hedden, who completed his hat trick, after he deflected a Mark Van Vliet shot on a two man advantage.

Lebanon Valley opened the third period with a goal by Brad Surdam off a Bert Malloy assist. That would be the last scoring opportunity that LVC would get as the Knights, who out shot the Flying Dutchmen 66-16, closed the night with three more goals.

Mark Van Vliet scored two of the Knights' final three goals in an 11-minute span of time. Van Vliet's goals were split by an Erik Stoyanvich goal at the 11:43 mark giving the Knights the 8-2 final.

Michael Hedden, Kyle Casey and Neil Trimm ended the night with 4-points each while Mark Van Vliet scored two goals and added an assist in the 8-2 win.

Neumann will look to complete a weekend sweep of Lebanon Valley on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at the Ice Works Quad Rinks in Aston, Pa.
