Aston, Pa. - NO. 5 Neumann College came up short in a 7-6 decision over the Soaring Eagles in men's ice hockey action on Saturday night. Neumann's Mike Hedden scored five goals while Matt Ward had 3 assists on the night. Neumann's 6th goal of the night was scored by Mark Van Vliet at 17:47.
The two teams went goal for goal in the opening period of play tying the score at three going into the break. Elmira came out in the second period scoring three consecutive goals and adding a fourth in the opening minutes of the third period. Neumann answered with three consecutive goals of their own closing the gap on the Soaring Eagles but, it was not enough to take home the win.
Neumann will return to action next Friday at 7:00 p.m. when they host No. 1 Manhattanville College at the Ice Works Quad Rinks in Aston, Pa.
