Neumann Falls Short to the Griffins in PAC Play, 86-57

GWYNEDD, Pa. - In their radio debut the Neumann Knights women's basketball team fell to conference rival, and PAC North top seed, Gwynedd Mercy College, 86-57.

 

Neumann's Dominique Thompson scored the first bucket of the night which sparked a nine point see-saw resulting in a 9-9 tie at 15:25. Gwynedd exploded in the following minutes taking an 8-point lead over its visitors. The Griffins and then continued to make key plays en route to their largest lead of the half, 35-19, at 2:11. Gwynedd Mercy concluded the first 20-minutes of play with a 13-point lead on the Knights, 38-25.

 

In the second half Neumann could not find their momentum as Gwynedd Mercy continued to dominate the court defeating the Knights 86-57. Neumann was 6-8 from the line but only shot 28% from the field. The Knights were led by Brittany Whetts with 16 and Caitlin Agnew, who scored a double-double 12 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

 

Gwynedd Mercy was led by Karen Tierney who scored a game high 18 points for the Griffins in the win.

 

Next up for the Knights: Neumann will travel to Dallas, Pennsylvania for a PAC match up with College Misericordia at 1:00 p.m.
