Aston, PA - The Neumann Knights (0-4, 0-1 PAC) were defeated by Eastern University (2-3, 1-0 PAC) in their first PAC match up of the season on Wednesday afternoon at Neumann College. Eastern jumped out to an early lead and proved to be too much for the Knights, as they were unable to comeback from a 3-0 first quarter deficit.
Eastern University tallied 3 goals in the 1st quarter and 5 goals in 2nd quarter to jump out to an 8-0 lead at halftime. Neumann got on the board midway through the 3rd quarter. Senior Devin Mossor fought through the Eastern defense, using his strength to score his first of two goals on the day. However, Eastern scored 5 goals of their own in the quarter to close out the 3rd with a 13-1 lead.
The Knights refused to give up and showed a lot of resiliency on both the offensive and defensive side of the field, in the 4th. Their hard work finally paid off and they were able to register two goals in the final quarter. Freshman middy, Matt Toth, scored a goal on an assist by Peter Vaisanen. Toth later assisted Mossor's second goal, which proved to be the final goal of the game.
The Knights showed good ball movement and teamwork in the 4th quarter, however, it was too late for them to stage a comeback. Eastern won the game by a final of 13-3.
The Knights will be in action on Monday March 26th, when they take on Alvernia College in Reading, PA. They return home on March 28th against Stockton College.
