Aston, Pa - The men's tennis team won its six match of the season with a win over Immaculata, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at Neumann College. The Knights won the three doubles matches and six singles matches, to move to 3-1 in PAC play and 6-2 on the season.
The sweep of the Mighty Macs is the second sweep of the year, and the second this month, for the Knights. The team also swept Chestnut Hill College on March 26.
Neumann College started the afternoon blanking the Mighty Macs in doubles with wins on all three courts. The doubles team of John Slinka and Dan Harnos bounced back from their loss against Ursinus College with an 8-1 win against Nick Tarlecki and Bill Dean at No. 1. The No. 2 pair of Matthew Ford and Barry Harvey nabbed their seventh win of the season with a victory over Cordell Fantroy and Kris Grossi, 8-1, securing the doubles point for Neumann. In final twosome match on the third court, Andrew Bitar and Steve Klenk earned an 8-0 win over Anthony Lazzaro and Andre Brooks for the sweep.
Riding the momentum of the doubles point, Neumann continued the winning streak and won all six singles matches.
John Slinka earned the first win for Neumann with a quick two-set win over Bill Dean, 6-2, 6-1. Second off the court was No. 2 Dan Harnos who posted his fifth win of the season by defeating Roland Santos 6-2, 6-2. Matt Ford record his fifth win of the season 6-2, 6-2 over Kris Grossi at No. 3 and Andrew Biter recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win over Nick Tarlecki for the Knights 5th point of the day. Barry Harvey and Steve Klenk also recorded wins for the Knights blanking their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.
Neumann will continue conference play on Monday, April 2 when they will host Eastern University at 3:30 p.m.
