Aston, Pa- The Knights (4-2-1, 1-0 PAC) won their PAC opener against Immaculata University (3-3, 1-1 PAC) today with a 2-0 victory. Sal Anzelmo (Atglen, Pa. /Octarara) and Jesse Urquhart (Erial, NJ/Timber Creek) helped the Knights claim three vital points in PAC conference standings.
The first half was full of physical play which warranted seven cautions and one ejection. Mike Barbagallo (Bridgeport, NJ/Kingsway Regional) was shown a red card with two consecutive yellows in a thirty second span. The Knights did not falter after the card; they answered as Sal Anzelmo beat the keeper to the ball on the top of the eighteen yard box and watched it trickle in to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
The second half proved to be a little calmer as the Knights defense steered by Chuck Rudolph (Atco, NJ /Hammonton) kept Immaculata from getting any real scoring chances. With time winding down the Knights put it away when Jesse Urquhart beat two Mighty Mac defenders to find the lower right corner of the net to seal victory.
The Knights continue to impress and show their quality of play. Coach Sloan, after the game said, "This team stuck together after the red card and did not give up, that is resilience and that shows our team chemistry and skill."
The Knights hope to improve their 1-0 record in the PAC when they host Gwynedd-Mercy College at 1:00 in Aston, PA.
