Aston, PA. - Junior transfer Jesse Urquhart ( Erial, NJ/Timber Creek) tipped in a loose ball unassisted in the 71st minute to give the Neumann Knights men's soccer team a 2-1 win at McDaniel on Wednesday afternoon. The goal is the third of Urquhart's career as a Knight and marks the first time in program history that the Neumann Knights have opened the season 2-0.

The Knights will next play at home on Saturday, September 8 against King's College.

Neumann scored first when Urquhart played a ball that went just off of McDaniel keeper Christain Maisel's hands 11 minutes into the match. The goal was assisted by senior captain Mike Barbagallo who made the pass off a thru ball.

The Green Terror (2-1) responded in the late in the first half to tie the game when Bill Druckenmiller scored off a cross pass from Donald Dokas. Neither team could score in the remaining 12 minutes of the first half and the two teams entered the second half tied at 1.

In the second half the two teams battled for possession with Neumann taking a 4-2 shot advantage. The Knights were determined to record their second win of the season.  It was that determination the propelled Urquhart and Barbagallo to team up once again for their second goal of the day.

"We played well today," stated Head Coach Kevin Sloan. It was a good team effort and I am really proud of the guys."

Defensively, newcomer Zack Ratliff made four saves on five McDaniel shots on goal allowing just the Druckenmiller goal. Maisel made four saves on six Neumann shots.
