Aston, Pa. -- The Neumann College Knights edged out King's College, 64-56, in the night cap of the 2008 Monarch Classic Friday night. In the earlier game Salisbury University defeated Norwich, 68-52 and will face Neumann in the tournament finale hosted by King's College tomorrow.

The Knights battled the Monarchs up and down the floor for the entire 40 minutes.  The Knights held a slim 1-point margin at the half, 30-29 and returned to the court in the second half to pull out the eight-point victory. Neumann fought through eight ties to record the win and will now advance to the championship at 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon against Salisbury University.

"There was a good team effort on the court tonight," stated Head Coach Frank Farnese. "The women were able to make the needed adjustments in the zone and adapted well to King's style of play. We are looking forward to the championship game tomorrow."

Neumann was led by Brittany Whetts with a double-double 16 points, 13 rebounds. Team captain Caitlin Agnew was also in double figures with 12 points and Dominique Thompson, who came off the bench for the first time this season, had nine points including a 3-point bucket late in the contest which put the game out of the Monarch's grasp, 60-54.

Defensively, the Knights were led by freshman guard Katie Young whose aggressive style shut down the Monarchs' Pre-Season All-American center, Andrea Hochstuhl, holding the senior to just two-points in the second half.

The victory is the second straight for the Knights since the Holiday break and tips the series record against King's to 3-2 in Neumann's favor.
