ASTON, Pa. – Marywood University scored two goals in two-and-a-half minutes in the second half to defeat Neumann College, 2-0, on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action at Sun Valley High School.
The teams played a scoreless first half that included a half an hour lightning delay just 7:53 into the game. Marywood (6-4-1, 3-0 CSAC) outshot Neumann (0-9-1, 0-2 CSAC) 12-3 during the half. Each team has good scoring changes and could not capitalize.
In the second half, Erica Mechalke put the Pacers on the board at the 56:06 mark off a pass from Amanda Costello. Jennifer Slesinski put Marywood up by two under three minutes later with a shot into the top corner of the net.
Vicky Segal made 18 saves in net for the Knights. Meghan Coyle had six saves for the Pacers.
Neumann travels to Keystone College on Saturday for a CSAC contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
