ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann College women's tennis team competed in the first round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) individual championships at the West End Racquet Club in Allentown, Pa.
The winners of today's matches will move onto the finals bracket and will play on Saturday for the Championship. Neumann had six spots qualify for the championship.
The duo of Michelle Steward and Lindsay Ravior represented the Knights in doubles action. The pair lost to the No. 2 seeded Ashley Bowie and Jessica Scarpello from Gwynedd-Mercy, 8-2.
Ali DeTolla and Rachel Coladonato qualified for No. 2 doubles action, but had to withdrawl before the match.
Neumann had four representatives in singles play. Courtney Hartel took on the No. 1 seed, Nicole Pontious (Cabrini) in No. 3 singles and lost 6-2, 6-0. Ravoir faced Chelsea Donde (No. 1 seed from Gwynedd-Mercy). In the No. 4 singles match, Ravior put up a fight but lost in three sets, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3.
Steward faced the No. 2 seed in No. 5 singles, Bowie (Gwynedd-Mercy). Bowie pulled out the 6-3, 6-2 win. Coladonato faced Cabrini's Michelle Lettman (No. 2 seed) in the No. 6 bracket. Coladonato lost 6-1, 6-1.
Neumann finishes its season with an overall record of 12-9, 7-3 in the CSAC. The team will wrap up its season with its annual banquet on November 15th at 6:30 p.m.
