Men's Soccer Blanks Centenary

DREXEL HILL, Pa. – The Neumann College men's soccer team wrapped-up the regular season with a 5-0 win over Centenary College on Saturday afternoon in Colonial State Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

 

The Knights honored their three seniors prior to the start of today's game: Chuck Rudolph, Jesse Urquhart and Danny Perez.

 

The Knights struck quick as Rudolph scored off a pass from Vernon Collins 7:09 into the contest.  Urquhart netted a pair of goals, both off of direct kicks, to give Neumann a 3-0 lead. Joe Larkins notched a goal with less then five minutes left in the first half to give the Knights a 4-0 lead into the break.

 

Collins capped the scoring with a goal in the second half off a pass from Ryan Bushbeck. Zack Ratliff made two saves in net en route to the shut out. Damien Di Buono made one saves in net for Centenary. Jason Rogers had two saves in net as he played the second half.

 

The Knights out shot the Cyclones, 18-6.

 

With the win, Neumann clinches the third seed in the CSAC playoffs. The Knights will travel to Immaculata University for a semifinal contest on Thursday night. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. Centenary will be the fifth seed and will face Marywood in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
