MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Neumann College women's ice hockey team had nine different players score en route to a 10-0 win over Wesleyan College Tuesday night in non-conference action.
The Knights netted three goals in each of the first two periods and capped the game off with four goals in the third. Four goals were on the power play.
Jasper Thomson scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Knights. Khristine Acosta assisted on three goals. Current ECAC West Goalie of the Week Mel Brunet made 10 saves in net for the shutout.
Carly Bondra, from Jessica Schroeder and Stephanie Nakamura, opened the scoring on the power play at the 3:46 mark of the first period. Diane Peters (from Carly Fitzsimmons and Acosta) and Tabatha Schury (from Acosta and Danielle McGurry) put the Knights up by a 3-0 score in the first intermission.
Neumann scored three power play goals in the second period. Brittany Metcalfe, from Niki Blazenko and Schroeder, netted a goal at the 3:47 mark. Holly Williams scored the Knights fifth goal of the game from Thomson. Vicki Scott wrapped up the second period scoring with a goal from Diane Peters and Acosta.
Up 6-0 after the second intermission, Neumann did not let up and scored four more goals in the third. Blazenko, from Bondra, and Thomson scored 48 second apart for an 8-0 game. Nicole Alexopoulos, from Kayla Dubrowski, and Thomson from Dubrowski and Alexopoulos capped the scoring.
Neumann improves to 5-2 on the season. Wesleyan is now 0-3. The Knights will host Plattsburgh on December 5 & 6 in ECAC West action.
