Knights Roll Past Falcons

Aston, PA-The Neumann Knights defeated Cedar Crest College 60 to 42 today at Bruder Gymnasium during the Knights "Think Pink" Cancer Awareness Event.  The Knights picked up their play midway through the first half and did not look back playing well on both sides of the ball. 

 

The win puts the Knights at 14-9 overall and 9-5 in PAC play.  Neumann has two PAC games remaining on the season.  The team currently holds third place in PAC South Division.

 

The Knights started to heat up midway through the first half when Ashley Pearsall and Stephanie Fanto hit a pair of threes to give the Knights a 22-12 lead midway through the first half.

 

The Knights continued their offensive effort scoring 17 straight points to take a 39-12 lead with 3:39 left in the first half.  During that run, Neumann's defense kept Cedar Crest scoreless for 10 minutes until Kelly Oakes hit a basket making the score 39-15. Neumann went into halftime with a 42-17 lead.  Brittany Whetts lead the charge for the Knights in the first half with 10 points and 3 rebounds.  Dorothy Roizer had a strong half underneath the basket scoring 8 points and grabbing 4 rebounds.

The second half was all Neumann as they took a lead as much as 29 points in the half and continued to play excellent basketball.  Neumann held Cedar Crest to 34% shooting from the field and out rebounded the Flacons 42-27.  The Knights finished the game with an 18 point lead and a 60-42 victory.

 

Brittany Whetts and Kieran Young lead the Knights in points each having 12 on the day.  Whetts also at lead the team in rebounds with 8 and Kieran Young grabbed 7 for the Knights.

 

Neumann will return to action Tuesday to take on PAC opponent Centenary College at 6:00 PM.  It will be the first meeting between the teams this year.
