WINCHESTER, Va. - Neumann College went to battle with Shenandoah University yesterday afternoon and although they were able to get nine goals past the Hornets, Neumann was handed the loss.
The Hornets struck first with just under one minute of play as they away two early goals. After the wake up call, the Knights quickly retaliated scoring three of their own pushing the score to 3-2 in the Knights' favor. Shenandoah tied it seven seconds after Paul Schmeltzer's goal. Just four seconds later, the Hornets stung again, giving them the lead for good.
Shenandoah outshot Neumann 65-32 and had 54 groundballs to the Knights 37.
On the loss, Math Toth and Justin Mailloux both scored two goals and Toth tallied an assist. Brian Capone, Greg Germon, Kyle Scheckler, Paul Schmeltzer and Kyle Gardner had a goal apiece. Scheckler and Germon also tallied an assist.
Neumann goalkeepers Jake Boulay and Pat D'Ambrosio made 17 and five saves, respectively.
The Knights look to rebound from the loss when they face Immaculata University at home on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Two seniors will be honored at the home game for their last home game.
