Reading, PA-The Knights started off a weekend series by traveling up to Reading, PA to challenge the Crusaders of Alvernia College. Despite a season-high, offensive burst of 11 runs, the Knights were unable to come home with a win.
Kevin Lengyel was the first of many Knights to round the bases and got the team on the board early in the first inning. Alvernia would answer the call and score four of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The Knights were held scoreless through the second and third innings while Alvernia added ten more runs to their lead.
Knowing they had some ground to make up, the Knights put together a run of their own in the fourth and fifth innings. Neumann was able to make up seven runs, cutting Alvernia's lead in half. Despite all of their efforts, the Crusaders would not be caught and scored nine more runs in the game.
On the day, Kevin Lengyel earned three hits and three RBIs and Lincoln-Kaleigh Schrock had one hit and two RBIs.
The Knights will return home tomorrow to avenge the loss as they match up with the Crusaders to the remainder of the weekend series. The first game of the double header is scheduled to begin Sunday at noon.
