FOREST GROVE, Ore. - The Neumann College volleyball team continued it's play in the Boxer Kickoff Invitational in Forest Grove, Oregon this afternoon. Playing against UC Santa Cruz the Knights were looking for their first victory of the season. While the effort was solid the execution was not and Neumann fell to Santa Cruz 3-0.
Head Coach Deana Jespersen stated, "We did not play to our ability this afternoon. We had 22 kills to 20 errors. That is not good enough." Jespersen continued by saying, "especially when your oppoent has 35 kills and 15 errors. We got 2 points out of that and they had 20. There is the difference."
That "difference" as Jespersen explained was more because of Neumann's poor execution. Inspite of the Knights weak play, there were some highlights. Senior Rachel DiMichele continued to play outstanding defense while senior setter Kristen Verone garnered another 20 assists. The Knights fall to 0-2 on the season. They will move onto the second day of competition on Sunday when they play the 7th and 14th ranked teams in the country accordinto the latest AVCA poll.
