WESLEY, Del. - The Neumann College Women's Soccer Team opened the season in Dover, Delaware tonight taking on the home team, Wesley College. The Knights were looking to upset the hometown favorites. While Neumann challenged their hosts, the Wolverines were able to score in the opening minutes and never trailed winning 2-0.
Wesley's women's soccer team scored in the first 3 minutes of the game to take a quick 1-0 lead. The Knights were able to counter Wesley's pressure the rest of the first half and went into halftime down 1-0. However, the second half was identical to the first. Wesley came out of halftime in attack mode and scored again, 3 minutes into the second half to put the host team up 2-0. Once again the Knights countered with attacks of their own but were not able to score.
Neumann' senior goalie Liz Raiburn stopped 10 of 12 shots while the Neumann offense was able to squeeze off 7 shots. Neumann will take on Marymount tomorrow night in the second half of the tournament. The Knights will play at 4 pm.
