Women's Soccer Loses Tough Game in OT

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Neumann College women's soccer team lost a close game, 2-1 in overtime, at the College of Notre Dame Tuesday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.

 

Neumann (0-7-1, 0-1 CSAC) got on the board first when Melissa Jarkowsky netted an unassisted goal. The Knights kept a 1-0 lead until Notre Dame's (2-4, 2-0 CSAC) Stephani Jones shot the ball off the crossbar at the 79:26 mark. Regulation would end with the teams knotted at one.

 

There was just one shot in the overtime period between the two teams and it was on the game winning goal scored by the Gators Ashleigh Johnson at the 92:33 minute mark. Ashley Cumberland assisted on the game-winning goal.

 

The Knights out shot the Gators 15-11 in the game. Vicky Segal made four saves in net. Allison MacNeill led Neumann with five shots.

 

Neumann will host Arcadia University on Saturday, September 27th as part of homecoming festivities. The game will be played at Msgr. Bonner High School at 1 p.m.
