Women's Basketball Falls to Gwynedd-Mercy

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann College women's basketball team fell to Gwynedd-Mercy College, 64-57, Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

 

Brittany Whetts led the Knights with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Katie Young grabbed 12 rebounds and Sami Borcky pulled down 10. The team went 15-15 from the free throw line.

 

Kate Wisniewski led the Griffins with 17 points. Kristy McGrath scored 12 while Jackie Dooley added 10. Layren Rosar had 16 rebounds.

 

The Griffins dominated from the start with their strong defense and rebounds. GMC built its lead to as many as 14 points in the first half. Neumann did put up a fight and went into the locker rooms down by five, 27-22.

 

In the second half, the Griffins held the Knights to a six point deficit for most of the half. Neumann got to within four, 61-57, with 30 seconds remaining, but GMC held on for the 64-57 win.

 

The Griffins improve their record to 9-3 and remain undefeated in the CSAC at 3-0. Neumann is 7-5 overall and 2-1 in the CSAC. The Knights will host Centenary in a CSAC match on Monday at 6 p.m.
