ROSEMONT, Pa. -  Junior Brittany Whetts scored her 1000th career point while leading Neumann College to a 53-40 Colonial State Athletic Conference victory over Rosemont College Thursday night.  Whetts reached the milestone when she made two free throws at the 11:09 mark of the second half.

Neumann began to take control of the game in the middle of the first half when Whetts made one of two free throws to give Neumann the lead 18-17.  The Knights used a strong pressure defense to try to speed up the Ramblers.  Both teams traded missed shots before the Knights grabbed a 25-19 lead at the half.

In the second half the Knights pushed their lead out to 40-26 as Whetts scored her 1000th point. The Ramblers were not going to give up without a fight and began to make a run of their own. In a late second half push Rosemont forced Neumann into a handful of turnovers and cut the Knight lead to 46-40 with just over two minutes to play, but Neumann was able to stop the run with pressure defense forcing a Rosemont turnover and scoring a three point basket to make the score 49-40.  The Knights would close the game out with foul shots making the final score 53-40.

Neumann improves to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in conference while Rosemont falls to 3-11 overall and 0-5 in conference play.  Neumann will travel to Madison Square Garden on Saturday to take on rival Cabrini College. Game time will be 3 p.m.
