Women's Ice Hockey Ties No. 6 RIT

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team used two third period goals to tie No. 6 Rochester Institute of Technology 4-4 Friday evening as both teams opened ECAC West action.
 

Jessica Schroeder notched the game-tying goal and an assist. Holly Williams added two assists. Laura Keeley made 21 saves in net as the Knights improve to 2-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the conference.  

RIT scored three goals in the first period, two on the power play, to take a 3-0 lead. Nicole Alexopoulos put the Knights on the board with just over two minutes left in the first period. Jasper Thomson and Williams assisted on the goal.  

RIT added its third power play goal of the game 11:06 into the second period to take a 4-1 lead. Brittany Metcalfe scored with 54 seconds left in the second period, off an assist from Williams, to make the score 4-2 heading into the third period. 

Kayla Dubowski notched a goal from the point at the 6:58 mark of the third to put the Knights within one. Under a minute later, Schroeder netted the game-tying goal.  

Keeley made nine saves in the final 10 minutes of regulation, including killing off a power play, to send the game into overtime. The senior goaltender made three saves in the overtime period. 

Shots on goal in the game were Neumann 26, RIT 25. The two teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon. The puck is set to drop at 3 p.m.
