GENEVA, N.Y. – Erik Stoyanovich scored in overtime to give the Neumann College men's ice hockey team a 4-3 win over #6 Hobart College Friday night in an ECAC West contest.
Marlon Gardner scored a goal and had an assist for the Knights. Sean Bianchini added two assists.
Thomas Capalbo had a goal and an assist for Hobart. Michael Steiner and Bobby Cahill each added two assists.
Gardner scored 1:10 into the game to give the Knights an early lead off assists from Bianchini and Jesse Cole. Neumann held a 1-0 advantage after the first period.
The Statesmen tied the game 4:34 into the second period. Nick Lapierre put the Knights back up by one at the 15:27 mark off an assist from Donovan Hall.
Matt Ward scored a power play goal to put Neumann up 3-1 5:19 into the third period. Gardner and Charles Paterson assisted on the goal. Hobart answered with two quick goals at 6:27 and 7:43 to tie the game at 3-all.
Stoyanovich netted his goal on the power play in the final minute of overtime, off an assist from Bianchini, to give the Knights the win.
Ross MacKinnon made 43 saves in net for the Knights, who improve to 12-8-2 overall and 6-4-2 in the conference. The two teams will meet again tomorrow. The puck is slated to drop at 4 p.m.
