Men's Ice Hockey Advances to Championship Game

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Neumann College men's ice hockey team defeated Hobart College, 2-0, Friday night in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championship at the Herb Brooks Arena.

 

Neumann will face Gustavus Adolphus Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. in the Championship Game.

 

The first two periods were scoreless. Hobart had many chances, but goalie Ross MacKinnon was spectacular in net for the Knights. The Statesmen outshot the Knights, 36-24.

 

Matt Ward broke the scoreless game on the power play at the 11:13 mark of the third period off a pass from Kyle Casey.

 

Captain Lincoln Schrock netted an empty net goal with 40 seconds remaining to stamp Neumann's ticket to the Championship Game. Jeff Rodell assisted on the goal.

 

Neumann advances to its first NCAA DIII Championship Contest. Face-off is set for 5 p.m. It will be broadcasted on the CBS College Sports.
