Women's Soccer Opens Turf with Win

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team won its first game on the new turf field with a 5-0 victory over Lancaster Bible Wednesday afternoon on the campus of Neumann University.
 

Kristin Ambrose scored the first goal on the new turf field 18:16 into the game. She knocked in a rebound as it was also her first collegiate tally. Nica Meccariello put the Knights up 2-0 in the 33rd minute. 

Colleen Rush netted her first goal of the season, off a pass from Megan Malstrom to put Neumann up 3-0. With time winding down, Alexis Tiernan dribbled the ball towards the net and scored her first collegiate goal to give the Knights an insurance goal. But the Knights weren't done. With just under a minute left, Heather Hopkins headed the ball into the net, off a pass from Tiernan. 

Jacqueline McAllister made one save in net. Sara Kelly was in net for the end of the game to help ensure the shutout. 

Neumann outshot Lancaster Bible 34-2. Meccariello led the Knights with seven shots. 

Neumann improves to 4-3-1 on the season. The Knights begin conference play on Saturday when they host Centenary College. The game is slated for 3:30 p.m. on the turf field.
