ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team defeated Rosemont College 10-0 Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale of the 2010 season.
Michael Frei netted a hat trick and an assist on the afternoon. Evan Morgan and Zach Sell each had two goals and two assists. Tahirou Kanneh added a goal and an assist.
Sell opened the scoring in the 19th minute of the contest. The Knights then went on to score four goals in a five minute span from the 27th to the 32nd minute. Frei netted a goal in the 39th minute and Neumann took a 6-0 lead into halftime.
The Knights added four more goals in the second half for the 10-0 win. Neumann's defense held Rosemont to just three shots in the game. The Knights had 28 shots. Bob Mastrillo made two saves for his seventh shutout of the season.
Neumann finishes the regular season 13-3-1 overall and 9-0 in the conference. The Knights head into the conference playoffs as the No. 1 seed and receive a bye in the first round. Neumann will host the lowest remaining seed on Thursday in the semifinals.
