Women's Soccer Earns First Playoff Bid

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team has qualified for the post season for the first time on program history for the 2010 season. The Knights went 5-5 in conference play to earn the No. 6 seed.

 

The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs start today with the first round games. Neumann travels to No. 3 Centenary for a 2 p.m. kick-off. In the other first round game, No. 4 Gwynedd-Mercy hosts No. 5 Immaculata.

 

Neumann is led by sophomore Olivia Pryzbylkowski and freshman Alanna Daniel, both with six goals and one assist this season. Pryzbylkowski was just named the 2010 CSAC Rookie of the Year.

 

Megan Malstrom has scored four goals, including two game-winners. Alexis Tiernan has notched a goal and six helpers. Her goal was the game-winner in a 2-1 victory at Wesley College.

 

Brittany Russ has been between the pips for 11 of the games this season. She is 4-5 with one shutout.

 

In their meeting earlier this season, the Cyclones defeated the Knights 5-0.

 

The winners of the first round games advance to the semifinals, where No. 1 Cabrini and No. 2 Marywood sit waiting. The semifinals games will be played on Wednesday, November 3.
