Second Half Run Clinches CSAC Win

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team picked up its third straight conference win with a 72-58 win over Marywood Monday evening.

Five Knights notched double-figures. Four led the way with 14 points, Krista DiRomualdo, Katie Young, Erica Marvel and Cecily Scavicchio. Bethany Humenik notched 11 points. Young completed a double-double with 14 rebounds as well.

Mariah Schaeffer scored a game-high 23 points. Lauren Rogan notched 12 while Marielle Thorsen added 10.

The turning point of the game came with 9:35 left in the second half. Neumann held a 50-49 advantage when it went on an 11-2 run over the next four-and-a-half minutes. The Pacers could not get any closer than nine points for the remaining five minutes of the game.

The game started out close. Neumann held the largest lead of the first half, eight points, with less than three minutes left in the half. The Knights held a 35-29 lead at halftime.

The Pacers scored the first six points of the second half to tie the game at 35-all. There would be three more tie scores in the half before Neumann would go on its 11-2 run to seal the conference win.

Neumann was 19-for-27 from the free throw line while Marywood 2-for-5.

Neumann (5-4, 3-0 CSAC) will host Rowan on Saturday in non-conference action beginning at 1 p.m. Marywood is now 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
