SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team lost its first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match to Marywood University, 5-4, Sunday afternoon.
Neumann picked up one point in doubles action. The duo at second doubles, Greg Bridgeman and Brian Crispin, won 8-4 over Daniel Pfafman and Barrett Wentworth. Chris Brown and Dan Harnos fell in a close match at first doubles, 9-8 (8-6), to Evan Bolus and Greg Chilson.
The singles matches were all close, with each team taking three points. Brown took his first singles match 7-5, 3-0 (retired) against Chilson. Harnos won fourth singles, 6-7 (1-7), 6-1, 6-2 against Pfafman. Abe Joseph picked up the fourth point for the Knights, 0-6, 6-4, 6-2, against Bao Nguyen at sixth singles.
Neumann (6-6, 4-1 CSAC) will travel for its final regular season road match on Tuesday to Penn State-Berks. The match is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. The Knights will then return home for their last four regular season matches, beginning on Thursday against Gwynedd-Mercy.
