ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team dropped a pair of games to Muhlenberg College Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action. Game scores were 6-2 and 2-1.

Neumann scored first in game one as Lauren Castiello knocked in Stephanie Marrone. Kim Kirkpatrick scored on a Muhlenberg error. The Mules then took advantage of a pair of Knights errors in the bottom of the first and plated three runs. Muhlenberg added two runs in the third and another in the fourth for the 6-2 win.

Brittany Campbell went 5.0 innings, allowing six runs, three earned, on four hits and struck out three. Sarah McGann pitched 1.0 inning and struck out one.

In game two, Muhlenberg scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. The Mules scored their first run in the bottom of the second. Neumann plated its run on a Castiello single in the third inning.

Rachel Purpuro started the game and went 5.0 innings. She allowed one run on four hits and struck out four. Sarah McGann went one inning and took the loss.

The Knights (21-16) wrap up regular season play on Friday as they travel to Cabrini College. The conference doubleheader is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
